The best “Voro vestuvės” songs to launch a grandiose tour around Lithuania
2012 02 16
The vivacious Voras (lit. Spider) suite, appraised by viewers and critics, will launch a journey over the arenas in seven biggest Lithuanian cities. The best and most beautiful family-orientated Tele Bim-bam songs from “Voro vestuvės” (lit. “Spider's wedding”) will be performed in Utena, Alytus, Kaunas, Šiauliai, Panevėžys, Klaipėda and Vilnius.
“A family-orientated show this huge has never been performed across Lithuania, thus it is great that - thanks to this grandiose tour over the Lithuanian arenas – some of the most beautiful and cheerful songs for children will be enabled to be heard not only by the residents of the capital or some of the largest cities, but also by people from smaller towns, who can very rarely see shows that professional in their area. Spectacular decorations, high quality sound and lighting equipment are being prepared for “Voro vestuvės”. Besides, it is extremely great that this team is joined by the best Lithuanian performers and sharks of entertainment business”, - says Juras Vėželis, the president of SEVEN Live, the organizer of this grandiose concert tour.
Over 50 performers dressed in flamboyant costumes will appear on stage in the Lithuanian arenas. The main role of the Voras (lit. Spider) will be performed by the opera singer Rafailas Karpis, his bride, the lovely Boružė (lit. Ladybird) will be embodied by Tele Bim-bam general Neringa Čereškevičienė, Algis Ramanauskas-Greitai will become the Vikšras Gražuolis (lit. the Stunning Caterpillar), maestro Andrius Kaniava – the Mėšlavabalis (lit. Dung-beetle). This arena-based tour will be exclusive because the Voras suite will be joined by a new performer – the charismatic actor Dominykas Vaitiekūnas, who is getting the role of the Vabalas be ūsų (lit. the Whiskerless Bug).
“The bugs' life, their inner relationships, intrigues, beetle love, betrayals and deceits is still a sphere not very well-known for me. I think that, as for an actor as well as a human being, it will be particularly interesting to dive into the world of the bugs and go deeper into the psychological nuances of the bug relationships. And that whiskerless bug of mine, who is also singing! I agree, it sounds peculiar, just like sprats with jam, but it is so tempting to taste”, - jokes the “Voro vestuvės” newbie D. Vaitiekūnas.
The stars of the spectacular event and enchanting melodies will be assisted by the Brevis choir, dancers and a huge crowd of Tele Bim-bam singers, who will perform together with professional actors. New decorations and animated video projections will be created specifically for this concert tour.
“Voro vestuvės” was one of my favourite childhood poems. It remains so loved and close to me to this day. Could there be anything more amazing than embodying one of the main characters in one of your favourite pieces of work? Especially when such a talented team is coming on stage along with you, the show becomes a massive pleasure. The viewer feels that too. It is wonderful that we can spread the best moments from “Voro vestuvės” over many corners around Lithuania and make it a grandiose concert”, - N. Čereškevičienė rejoices over the upcoming tour.
Based on the rhymes of Justinas Marcinkevičius, one of the most famous Lithuanian poets, and the original music created by Alfredas Čereškevičius, the husband of Neringa Čereškevičienė, “Voro vestuvės” has become a magnificent show dedicated for both children and adults. For the first time it, as a rock opera, was introduced to the Lithuanian audience on the 18th Tele Bim-Bam birthday in 2008. The author of the libretto, director and the host of the event is Neringa Čereškevičienė, the choreographer – the famous Agris Danilevišč from Latvia, the costume designer – Aušra Kleizaitė.
Almost a year ago, on 16th February 2011, we lost Justinas Marcinkevičius, known as the national poet, whose pen was responsible for tens of well-known pieces, one of them being the children's poem “Voro vestuvės”. The revival of the pieces based on this poem in the largest Lithuanian arenas will be another way of remembering the poet.
